Privacy Policy

This Policy applies to the MajorFluent service (the “Service”), operated by MajorFluent (“MajorFluent,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). It is incorporated into our Terms & Conditions. By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your name and email address, and we store a securely hashed (never plaintext) version of your password.

Learning data. We store the data you generate using the Service — your progress, module notes, reflections, highlights and annotations, questions you ask, and the fit reports you generate — so we can provide the Service and sync it across your devices.

Purchase information. If you buy a subscription or a single field, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card details; we do not store full card numbers. We retain a record of your purchases and entitlements and a customer reference from the processor.

Usage and device data. We record product events (for example, pages viewed, modules completed, features used) and basic technical data such as IP address and browser information, used for security, rate limiting, debugging, and improving the Service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: operate and personalize the Service; save and sync your learning data; authenticate you and keep your account secure; process payments and manage subscriptions; provide the “Ask the Professor” feature; respond to support requests; understand and improve how the Service is used; and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.

3. The “Ask the Professor” Feature

When you use Ask the Professor, your question, the relevant lesson context, and any passage or notes you explicitly choose to share are sent to our AI model provider (Anthropic) to generate a response. We send only what is needed to answer within the current module; we do not send your password or payment details. Your private notes and reflections are not shared unless you choose to include them in a question.

4. Cookies & Sessions

We use a strictly-necessary, HttpOnly session cookie to keep you signed in. It is not used for advertising. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

5. How We Share Information

We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our behalf to run the Service — for example, our database/hosting provider, our AI model provider (Anthropic), our payment processor (Stripe), and our email provider — under contracts that limit their use of it. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users’ safety, or in connection with a business transfer. We do not sell or rent your personal information.

6. Data Retention

We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account is active, and as needed to provide the Service or meet legal, accounting, or security obligations. You can delete your account, after which we delete or de-identify your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is legally required.

7. Security

We protect your information with measures appropriate to its sensitivity, including encrypted transport, hashed passwords, scoped access controls, and rate limiting. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.

8. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can update your account details and change your password in your account settings, and you may request access, export, or deletion by contacting us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16 (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age; if you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International Users

We operate in the United States and may process and store your information there or in other countries where our service providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers. By using the Service you understand your information may be processed in the United States.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
